Best time to visit Italy - Spring vs Autumn?

I am planning my first trip to Italy and cannot decide between April/May or September/October. Which season offers better weather, fewer crowds, and the best overall experience? Specifically interested in Rome, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast.

September/October is my preferred time! The summer crowds are gone, the weather is still warm (25-28 degrees), and the food is incredible with harvest season. Plus hotel prices drop significantly after August.

I went in April and loved it! The wildflowers in Tuscany were amazing. Spring has slightly cooler temperatures but the landscapes are so green. Both seasons are great - you cannot go wrong!
